Join ornithologist Wayne Petersen for a waterfowl filed trip in Plymouth and Duxbury. Every autumn thousands of sea ducks and other waterbirds migrate south along the Massachusetts coast on their way to their wintering grounds. Participants in this outing will receive an overview of the migratory routes and destinations of these birds, along with a description of the factors that influence their migratory behavior. In addition to providing an exhilarating day afield at a lovely time of year, this outing will offer insights into observing, identifying, and better understanding migratory waterbird behavior in Massachusetts.
Meet at Wildlands Trust Headquarters. Field Trip Locations: Manomet Point, the Plymouth/Duxbury Bay Important Bird Area, and several nearby freshwater ponds.
