VolunTuesday - Brockton Outdoor Classroom

  • Hancock Elementary School 125 Pearl Street Brockton, MA, 02301 United States (map)

Join stewardship managers Zoë and Owen to build an outdoor classroom at Hancock Elementary School. In 2022, Wildlands Trust and Manomet received funding from NOAA’s Environmental Literacy program to launch Brockton Kids Lead the Way, an initiative to foster city students’ connection to nature.

Brockton Kids Lead the Way is an ambitious education initiative designed to boost climate resilience and environmental stewardship in the city of Brockton. In collaboration with local teachers, Wildlands Trust and Manomet will use the funding to design and build outdoor learning spaces at three elementary schools in Brockton. Once the learning spaces are built, students will receive a year of outdoor education programming based on curricula developed by Manomet.

Work plan will be determined closer to the day of (depending on what stage we are at in the build). All experience levels are welcome, and no registration is required!

The volunteer day will last from 10am-1pm. Volunteers are free to come and go as they please. Questions? Contact Stewardship Programs Manager Zoë Smiarowski at zsmiarowski@wildlandstrust.org.
