Few places anywhere pack the same wealth of cultural and natural resources into a suburban setting as Willow Brook Farm, a Wildlands Trust showcase preserve in Pembroke. Comprising 167 wild acres just 30 miles south of Boston, Willow Brook Farm epitomizes the globally rare ecological diversity of the Herring Brook Valley. Each year, over 20,000 people explore Willow Brook’s field, forest, and wetland habitats to learn about the human and natural communities that have come and gone from the region. 

After 27 years serving the people and wildlife of Southeastern Massachusetts, Willow Brook Farm needs upgrades to bolster its safety and value for future generations. Unfortunately, improving public amenities in frequently flooded environments isn’t cheap: we estimate the project to cost $60,000. 

With your support, we will: 

  1. Replace 0.3 miles of boardwalks and bog boards 

  2. Remove invasive plants from former agricultural fields 

  3. Build covered picnic tables

  4. Repair the parking lot 

  5. Improve wayfinding amenities, such as map kiosks and trail signage  

  6. Restore eroding trails

If you love Willow Brook Farm, we need your help! Wildlands Trust is seeking $20,000 in public donations to support this effort. An anonymous funder has agreed to a 2:1 match on every donation under $500 and a 1:1 match on all others, up to $40,000. That means you can triple your impact: a $50 donation will give us $150 to secure the future of this beloved preserve.

Kayak Raffle Details

For every $10 donated to support Wildlands Trust’s efforts to upgrade Willow Brook Farm, you will receive (1) one entry into our kayak raffle. Example: If you donate $30, you will receive (3) three entries into the raffle. All donations between June 7, 2024, 12:00 AM and August 8, 2024, 11:59 PM are eligible for entry, unless the donor elects to opt out. The drawing will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024. Pickup at Wildlands Trust Headquarters, 675 Long Pond Rd, Plymouth. The winner will be contacted by phone and/or email. This kayak has been generously donated by the Friends of IndieFerm Brewing and Billington Sea Kayak.
