BioBlitz at D.W. Field Park

  • D.W. Field Park D W Field E Pkwy Brockton, MA, 02301 United States (map)

Overview:

Join Manomet, Wildlands Trust, and local guides for a morning dedicated to identifying plants and animals in D.W. Field Park as part of this community science project. There is endless biodiversity to discover at this 700-acre city park!

How it Works:

The mobile app iNaturalist will be used to identify and record species that call the park home. This is a free, user-friendly app that you can download on your mobile device ahead of time and learn how to use when you arrive for the BioBlitz. Guides will be stationed throughout the park to help with identification and recording. The data collected will contribute to the ever-growing D.W. Field Park Living Field Guide, which can be viewed here: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/d-w-field-park-living-field-guide. A scavenger hunt will be available for kids so the whole family can participate!

Time Frame:

Arrive anytime between 9:00 - 11:00 am to sign in and get started. Guides will be available from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. If you would like to contribute to the BioBlitz outside of this timeframe, any observations documented in iNaturalist at D.W. Field Park on September 9 will contribute to the BioBlitz data collection.
