Winter Astronomy Night

  • 675 Long Pond Road Plymouth, MA 02360 (map)

Join amateur astronomer Jim Kundzicz for another Astronomy Night at Wildlands Trust! The Wildlands' headquarters is one of the best spots in town for big sky views - come and see for yourself!

Note: This event has been rescheduled from the original date of January 14 due to weather.

Begin indoors in the Community Conservation Barn to learn about the night sky and how it changes throughout the year based on Earth's movement. Then head outside as the sun sets to get started with the night sky viewing. We'll see a crescent moon and Saturn sinking together in the sky, and Jupiter too! As it gets darker, we'll look at and learn about the winter constellations, the Pleiades (Seven Sisters) Star Cluster, Orion, and of course Polaris, the North Star and center of the night sky! Jim will bring his high powered binoculars and Wildlands will provide a few binoculars for people to share, but you are welcome to bring your own as well.

Please dress warmly! Gloves, hats, and even blankets are recommended. The barn will remain open throughout the night for a place to warm up and grab some hot chocolate.

Children under 16 attend for free with parents/guardians! Please register all party members at checkout.

Outdoor programs are weather permitting. Cancellations and postponements due to weather will be announced online and registered attendees will be notified via email.
