STC House Manager - ☎️ 📧
Judy Savage knows that beautiful communities aren’t formed or sustained by accident. After a lifetime of travel, Judy is acutely aware of the risks of unchecked development and passionate about advocating for better ways forward.
Growing up in a military family, Judy lived all over the world as a child, including Japan, Germany, and England. This global perspective taught her early on that there is more than one way to live in community with people and nature. Her love of the outdoors intensified in college, where her friends took her on ill-prepared camping trips. (“I almost froze to death once,” Judy said, “but I was hooked!”) Yet it was another interest that Judy pursued academically, earning bachelor’s and master's degrees in early human development at the University of Rochester. Judy went on to train preschool teachers across the country before directing Child Care Resources of Rockland County, New York.
All the while, Judy was falling in love with Plymouth, where she attended music and dance programs at Pinewoods Camp for nine years. In 2003, she became the camp’s executive director. After retiring in 2017, Judy got involved in local conservation and climate advocacy. Having lived on the beautiful yet overdeveloped Hudson River, Judy knew what Plymouth had to lose. She helped establish the Plymouth Climate Action Network, which has successfully prompted the Town to adopt proactive climate plans and policies.
Judy jumped at the opportunity to manage the Stewardship Training Center (STC) in 2024. She was a longtime member of Wildlands Trust and always curious about that house on Halfway Pond. Judy is excited to ensure that programs and events at the STC run smoothly. In her free time, Judy enjoys bicycling, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family, including her daughter, son, three grandchildren, and cat, Theo.
